Biography

Nicknamed “Crazy Horse” for his aggressive style and propensity to gamble on anything that moves, Ram Vaswani is the youngest member of the Hendon Mob and, as of January 2013, the only member to own a WSOP bracelet. This former professional snooker player’s first major tournament win came at the Masters Classics in Amsterdam in 1999. Following that, Ram had a lot of deep runs in WSOP events, with a second- and third-place finish in the 2002 WSOP, and three final tables in 2004. He had to wait until 2007 to bag his bracelet, however, when he triumphed in the $1,500 limit hold’em shootout event. In the meantime, Ram was able to make an impressive four final tables at EPT Main Events.

The Hendon Mob were the first poker players to get a deal, and thus, in a way, invented poker sponsorship. And while Ram may be the “quiet one” of the group, Barny Boatman recently told us that Ram was, in fact, the real visionary: “Of all of us Ram’s the biggest dreamer… Ram was the first one to say, ‘We should be like sportsmen. They should be picking us up in cars and putting us in hotels.’ ”
