Gus Hansen (FullTilt)
Gus Hansen first appeared on the scene in 2002 when he won the WPT Five Diamond Classic, where he was noticed for a loose-aggressive style that earned him a reputation for playing “crazy”. The former backgammon player won two more WPT titles in the following two years, however, and remains the only player to have won three WPT titles. In the early days of the TV poker boom, he became one of the first real TV poker celebrities.
After a lean couple of years on the tournament scene, Gus was back to his best in 2007, taking first place in the Aussie Millions for just under $2m. And, in 2010, having been something of an underachiever in WSOP events, Gus won his first and only bracelet, at the WSOPE £10k High Roller Heads Up event in London.
Gus Hansen has consistently played in the highest stakes cash games around, both live and online, from Bobby’s Room to Macau, fuelling much speculation about his wins and losses.
