It may not have been a chip and a chair but as comebacks go Matt Graham’s was one to remember. At one stage of heads up play, Graham faced a nine to one chip deficit to two-time bracelet winner Vitaliy Lunkin. After doubling up three times the 25-year-old finally sealed the deal after his set of tens held up against Lunkin’s gutshot straight and flush draw.

The $1,500 No-Limit Hold ‘em events always have a monstrous turnout and Event #39 was no different – 2,714 players entered the tournament to create a gigantic prize pool. In the end it was won by Ray Foley who defeated Ultimate Bet’s Brandon Cantu to take the bracelet.

Wallsall’s Grosvenor Casino will be the venue for the third and final leg of the GUKPT Summer Series, which starts on Thursday 25th June. The four-day festival kicks off with a £200+£20 No Limit Hold Em event at 8pm on Thursday. A £300+£30 No Limit Hold Em Event follows on Friday 26th June, with the £500+£50 Main Event starting at 6pm on Saturday 27th June.

John Angus of Edinburgh has won the inaugural Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Summer Series at the newly-renovated G Casino in Aberdeen. In a rapid heads-up match he defeated Orkney’s Pete Thomas after rivering a boat with 66 against Thomas, appropriately holding the dead mans’ hand A8.

The 164-runner field may not have been great in number but it more than made up for it in quality. In the end it was Jeff Lisandro who outlasted a loaded final table, including five former bracelet winners, to claim the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi Lo World Championship.

Women have been something of an endangered species at the 2009 WSOP with only Annie Duke making a final table in the first 35 events. The numbers were swelled in event 36 though with both Laurence Grondin and chess Grandmaster and former European champion Almira Skripchenko making the final nine.
