Senator Menendez Launches New Pro-Poker Bill.
Poker bills are like buses, so it seems. Now the poker industry could wind up benefiting from not one, but two new bills going through Congress. In addition to Senator Barny Frank's much-publicised Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act (HR 2267) - which now boasts 54 signatures - the Internet Skill Games Regulation Bill (S8309) is also fighting its way into law.

Dusty Schmidt drops lawsuit
Last month we brought you the news that golfer turned professional poker player Dusty Schmidt was taking the USGA to court in a bid to win back his amateur status. Schmidt played golf professionally until a heart attack at the age of just 23 forced him to quit.

The founder of Poker Listings, Andreas Oscarsson, found dead
Andreas Oscarsson, the founder of leading poker site PokerListings.com and WSOP bracelet winnner, was found dead in his bed on Monday morning. He is said to have been shot.
Irish Winter Festival of Poker satellites under way
Paddypowerpoker.com has given players some extra opportunities to qualify for the Irish Winter Festival of Poker. In addition to the regular Sunday and Tuesday super satellites the Irish site will be hosting a Ticket only qualifier on Thursdays at 8pm.
Devilfish Poker launches weekly live tournament
Ireland’s newest poker venue, the Voodoo Card Club in Arran Quay, Dublin will be the venue for a weekly event hosted by Devilfish Poker. The so-called Devilfish Night takes place every Thursday at 8.30pm and will feature a €25+5 buy-in Second Life tournament with starting stacks of 3,000 chips, a 3,000 chip re-buy and a 20 minute clock.
Asian Poker Tour’s open letter to Michael Phelps
Michael Phelps may have won five gold medals at the recent Swimming World Championship in Rome but is he more a dolphin than a fish on the felt? The multiple Olympic champion claims to be something of a poker buff and that has prompted the organisers of the Asian Poker Tour to write him a letter.

Matt Perrins wins Italian Poker Tour event
Britons put up some fine performances at this year’s World Series and the international success has continued in Italy. Manchester’s Matt Perrins outlasted a field of 439 players including top pros Dario Minieri, Vanessa Rousso and Johnny Lodden to claim the second leg of the Italian Poker Tour in Venice.
