WSOP Champions Invitational Debuts Tonight

WSOP Champions Invitational Debuts Tonight

Wednesday, 5 August 2009

The final table of the WSOP 40th Anniversary Champions Invitational debuts tonight on ESPN at 8pm EST. There, a very tough final table that includes eleven-time bracelet winner Phil "The Poker Brat" Hellmuth and ten-time bracelet winner and two-time Main Event Champion Doyle Brunson will play out for the top spot.

Other players making the final table included Carlos "The Matador" Mortensen, Robert "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" Varkonyi, Jim Bechtel, Berry Johnston, Tom McEvoy and Huck Seed.

This was a non-bracelet event - the field of 20 had enough of those anyway - so the winner received the title of "Champion of Champions," a 1970 Corvette Stringray and the freshly-minted Binion's Cup, created in honour of the Main Event's Godfather, Jack Binion.
