Carter Phillips wins EPT Barcelona
There were high hopes for a British win heading into the final table at EPT Barcelona yesterday, with both Marc Goodwin and Asa Smith handily placed to make a run at the title. In the end, the two Englishman came up just short, finishing behind inspired American Carter Phillips.

Finnish Team Full Tilt member Patrik Antonius has spoken candidly about the “durrrr Challenge” in which he is currently participating. Of the 50,000 hands of $200/$400 Pot-Limit Omaha to be played, Tom Dwan and Antonius have played less than half.

William Hill Poker Boosts Playtech Profits
In July, online gaming moguls Playtech – the software designers behind many of your favourite poker rooms – announced that their profits were looking none-too-bright. In fact, a spokesperson revealed that "a prolonged integration period and difficult trading conditions" meant that a deal with William Hill Online was taking longer than thought.

Last week we brought you the news that someone on Twitter was claiming to be Patrik Antonius. It seemed extremely unlikely given the Finn’s very private nature and so it proved. Antonius has no Twitter account and someone was making some very real mischief.

Marc Goodwin looking good at final table EPT Barcelona
Marc Goodwin and Asa Smith head the British challenge going into today’s final table at EPT Barcelona. Goodwin, newly sponsored by Littlewoods Poker, is sitting in 2nd place with 3.1m chips, just over 1m behind leader Carter Phillips. Asa Smith, already celebrating his fourth consecutive cash in an EPT event, will be looking for his first big win and with a stack of 1.38m he’s handily placed to do so.
Poker Hall of Fame Final Nominees Announced
The final nominees for a prestigious place in the Poker Hall of Fame have been announced. The Induction Ceremony will be part of a special Hall of Fame dinner ceremony on Saturday, November 7 at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas during the dinner break of the Main Event Final Table, meaning there are not one but two November Nines this year.
