High Stakes Poker Returns to GSN for Season 6
Barry Greenstein was the first to confirm the news, speaking on ESPN’s PokerStars sponsored Inside Deal programme recently. He confirmed that GSN was planning to collate the players for filming October and November after the WSOPE and EPT London.

The fifth incarnation of the European Championship Of Online Poker has been announced with guaranteed prize pools of $4.5m. The two-week festival runs from 23rd November until 6th December and will feature a selection of Hold’em, Omaha and Stud events.

Roberto Romanello leads $1m guaranteed English Poker Open
A quick glance at the list of runners at the English Poker Open reveals that Britain, for the time being at least, is the global centre of world poker. The 213 players who gathered at Dusk Till Dawn yesterday included Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Annette Obrestand and November Nine finalist James Akenhead, but at the end of day 1 it was Roberto Romanello who held the chip lead.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned an email advert sent out by Betfair Poker because it “could encourage young people to gamble”. The advert featured a picture of Annette Obrestad and the tagline “Online experience is measured in games, not years. Join the new breed. Annette_15".

Johannes Jorgensen wins Poker in the Sky
Local player Johannes Jorgensen has won Poker In The Sky and with it a $13,000 package to next month’s PartyPoker.com World Open V. The Copenhagen native showed that he had a head for heights as well as poker, winning the tournament while perched on a table suspended 50 metres above the ground. The elevated location proved too much for Danish pro Theo Jorgensen who cried off citing a fear of heights.
