Online Poker winner in benefits fraud trial
No lesser authority than Doyle Brunson said that you must pay your taxes on poker winnings. Now that isn’t quite such a problem in the UK, given the tax-free nature of online poker, but the same principle should have applied to Norwich man, Alan Forsyth and his benefits claims.
Man wins Borgata Ladies Championship
Abraham Kortoki has won a side event at the Borgata Poker Open. Nothing very newsworthy in that except that the event he won was the Ladies only tournament.

Actor Mekhi Phifer to join Team Full Tilt?
Full Tilt’s flirtation with Durrrr hasn’t been consummated yet but that hasn’t stopped the online giants from adding another name to their team. It’s looking likely that Mekhi Phifer, the star of movies Clockers and 8 Mile, is going to become Full Tilt’s latest Red Pro.

Final Table Set at Full Tilt’s WPT Merit Cyprus Event
Day 5 of the World Poker Tour Merit Cyprus Classic, sponsored by Full Tilt Poker, had narrowed down 181 players to just 10. These last few today played down to the final table of six, with some surprise eliminations along the way.

Day Four at WPT Cyprus was a very short affair with play for the day wrapped up after just two levels. At the end of play the 21 starters had been whittled down to ten with American Rep Porter holding the big stack with almost 1.8m chips, a lead of 800,000 chips over closest rival Jonathan Little.
