Irish poker fans have been given another incentive to vote for their favourite players, poker rooms and personalities in this month's Irish Poker Awards as one lucky voter will be awarded a seat at the International Poker Open. On Monday night after a three hour heads-up battle, David Vamplew defeated John Juanda and took down the EPT London Main Event for £900,000. Last night he returned to the same televised table and the run good vibes were still there – he is now the UKIPT Champion of Champions.

David Vamplew is running pretty good at the moment, to say the least. Think back to this time last week – at the time he was just an average guy in his early 20s; he had a maths degree from Edinburgh University and he played $2/$4 and $3/$6 online. Like thousands of others, he was a faceless grinder who spent time deconstructing his opponents at the tables with the use of a big monitor and a HUD – presumably.
