A bumper crowd was in attendance for the latest Irish Poker Festival in Killarney over the weekend with 632 players buying into the Ladbrokes sponsored event.
After four-days of action it was London based Swede Lars Torngren who took the honours, outlasting a final table that included former WSOP Main Event finalist John 'Skalie' Kalmar. Torngren dodged a host of outs on the final hand which saw the final three players all push their stacks into the middle.Brian McGleenon on the button revealed J5, Torngren in the small blind showed pocket sixes with Paul Lucey joining the party with A7. The sixes held up though to give the Swede the title and with it a first prize of €75,000. Irishman Lucey collected €50,000 for his runner up finish with Lucey's countryman McGleenon pocketing €30,000 for third.“I have been playing poker for about 8 years and this is my first big tournament win so I am absolutely delighted,” said Torngren, “I am already looking forward to next year's Ladbrokes Poker Festival.”Head of Poker at Ladbrokes Kate McClennan added, “It's been another fantastic year in Ireland. The Ladbrokes.com Irish Poker Festival keeps getting better and better and we are delighted for Lars, he was a worthy winner. All eyes are now on the Poker Cruise in January which is shaping up to be one of the best yet.”To be in with a chance of taking part in the Ladbrokes Poker Cruise sign up for an account at Ladbrokes Poker.Keep up to date with all the news from the poker world by following us on Twitter and Facebook.
