Sam Barnhart wins 2011’s first bracelet at WSOP-C $1m event.
Even though we’re not due to shuffle up and deal for the first open event of the 2011 World Series of Poker – the $25,000 NL HU begins tonight – Sam Barnhart has claimed the first WSOP bracelet of 2011, ahead of even the Casino Employees’ Event winner. The WSOP-C Tunica champion beat a field of 100 in the WSOP-C National Championship $1m freeroll to take home $300k and the gold.

We know that Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Sam Trickett and Erik “The Seiborg” Seidel have been having an awesome 2011 but Erick Lindgren is another to add to the list. Kicking off the year with a cash in the Aussie Millions Main Event he just two weeks ago came second to The Seiborg himself in the WPT Super High Roller for $700,000.

It's been quite the week for Gus Hansen. After a big loss in the draw games the Dane returned to form at the Omaha tables showing a massive $1,166,372 profit for the week. Hansen is back at the top of the 2011 online leader board with a profit fast approaching $4m.

2011 WSOP – can we beat 2010’s Year of the Brit? [Editorial]
Not to get all American and overly patriotic on you but last year at the World Series of Poker, Britain absolutely smashed it. Of course we didn’t take home the most bracelets or the most money (that will always be the US, naturally) from Las Vegas but we came closer than any other country. Five World Series of Poker bracelets came back to the shores of Anglia last year – can we top that in 2011?
