The 2011 World Series of Poker – smaller and better? [Editorial]
In 2010, the 41st annual World Series of Poker attracted a record field to the 57 events, including a near-record 7,319 players – the second largest ever Main Event field. In total, the prize pool for the series as a whole was $187,109,580; a new record that amounted to half of the total prize pool of the 1st to 36th WSOP series. At the beginning of this year you would have been hard-pressed to find a poker insider who didn’t expect big things from the 2011 WSOP.
Sam Razavi wins PokerStars UKIPT Cork
The PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour event in Cork has come to an end with 602 runners leaving one man standing; that one man is UK pro Sam Razavi who takes home €71,000 – not bad for an investment of just €550. He held the chip lead from the middle of Day 2 onwards and relinquished it just once or twice through the final.
Morteza Islam wins DTD Grand Prix
Morteza Islam has been crowned the winner of the biggest attended tournament in UK poker history after taking down the Grand Prix event at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham.
PokerStars SCOOP final day – Toby Lewis leads Main Event
This time tomorrow, the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker will be over for another year. Once again, the guarantee of $25m was met big time with only one event ($25,500 Heads-Up NL) failing to meet the guarantee. The Main Event has begun with the final playing out tonight.
AJ Jejelowo wins WSOP-Circuit $10k Regional Championship
The final World Series of Poker Circuit event before the Million Dollar National Championship freeroll on Friday came to an end with the fourth $10,000 Regional Championship event. AJ Jejelowo had to defeat just 74 others in his run to take home the $235,956 first prize.

Super Seidel does it again
In the Erik versus Erick battle for the WPT $100k Super High Roller title last night, it was almost inevitably Seidel who triumphed over Lindgren.

Season IX of the World Poker Tour drew to a close last night with Scott Seiver taking the $25,000 WPT Championship event at Bellagio.

Mops the pots up, you copped he flopped nuts, Ivey pops up begging Erik for coaching. We thought that The Micros, SrslySirius and DRibes’ efforts in Seiborg were a semi-joke but now Erik Seidel is on his way to a third title in a $100,000 buy-in event as well as his fifth million of 2011. Mental.
