Adam Geyer wins nearly $500k in FTOPS XI
The climax of each FTOPS series is the $535 Main Event which attracts thousands of players and promises huge prizes. This time around the Main Event guaranteed $2.5m but in the end 5,287 players signed up to create a $2.64m prize pool with just shy of half a million going to the winner.
Roberto Romanello wins PartyPoker European Open V
Roberto Romanello, a consistent grinder from Swansea whose family own a chain of fish and chip shops, was overcome with emotion after besting European Number One Mark Goodwin and taking down the European Open V for $200,000.

Player in 25bnth PokerStars hand runs bad
Just like in the US Civil War, it sucks to be ‘Confedrate’. In this case it’s the name of a player at a PokerStars Limit Omaha Hi/Lo $1/$2 table who uses that handle on the site. Sitting UTG, he was offered the option to post his blind out-of-turn or wait for it to come to him. Like any solid grinder, he chose the latter option. Oops.

PokerStars to celebrate 25 billionth hand.
A little over 18 months since PokerStars dealt their 10 billionth hand, they are preparing to deal number 25,000,000,000. That’s way too many zeroes for us to comprehend.

Just over 2,500 people turned out for the $216 NLHE turbo 6-max event, the fifteenth tournament of the FTOPS XI series. The total prize pool was $505,600 with first place offering $99,582.98.

Founded in 1981, the Irish Open is among the longest-running poker tournaments in the world, second only to the WSOP. Phil Laak described it as “the greatest tournament in the history of… er, history.” Wise words from a wise man.
PKR announce second live festival in London.
Top-of-the-range, 3D online poker room PKR last year hosted a very successful live poker festival at Loose Cannon cardroom and members’ club, South London. The event saw a big turnout and a bigger prize pool.
