Tom Dwan, allegedly in the midst of a $4m downswing, is coming out of it nicely. In between playing Patrik Antonius across four tables of heads-up Omaha as part of his million-dollar challenge, the young gun took $1,000,000 from Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies.

Virgin Festival of Poker returns to Newcastle
Top of the bill on Virgin’s second visit to Newcastle will be the 2 day, 150 euro buy-in main event. Virgin have sweetened the prize pool by £5,000 and are offering a further £1,000 worth of bounties and prizes for those qualifiers who manage to bust out pros Nick Wealthall, Maria Demetriou, Shelley Rubenstein and Kara Scott. A total prize fund of £32,000 is expected.
