PokerStars APPT Sydney – Aaron Benton wins AUD $594,000
The Grand Final of the PokerStars Asian Pacific Poker Tour took place at the Sky City casino in Sydney, with almost 400 players competing in the event before one man took down the grand prize.
Jan Skempa wins EPT Prague on home turf
The last EPT stop of 2009 saw 586 players stump up the €5,000 – or qualify for peanuts via PokerStars – to create a huge prize pool and a €682,000 first-place prize. The trophy stayed on Czech soil after local boy Jan Skempa – who made the final table of the EPT Vilamoura, no less – took down the event, defeating Eyal Avitan heads-up to claim it all.
Luca Pagano makes record sixth EPT final table
Team PokerStars pro Luca Pagano, the site’s most famous Italian export after Dario Minieri, has set ElkY-esque records by making his sixth EPT final table – amazingly, this represents almost half of the times he has cashed in EPT tournaments.
James Akenhead wins Poker Million
James Akenhead will be sorry to see the end of 2009. Reaching the final table of the main in event of both the WSOP and WSOPE would have marked a highly successful year in itself but winning the Poker Million really finished things off in style.
Aaron Benton wins APPT Grand Final
Aussie Aaron Benton has won the Grand Final of the PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour in Sydney. Benton, who appeared in the Australian version of Big Brother, outlasted a field of 396 runners to win a first prize of just over AUD$500,000.
Marcel Luske to release new album
2Unlimited may have a challenger when it comes to naming the most famous music act from Holland with the news that Marcel Luske is releasing a new album. The Flying Dutchman will be launching the new CD, “More Than Just a Game” with a live concert at the Fontana Lounge at The Bellagio on 20th December.

PokerStars EPT Prague Day 2 over
When Day 2 of the third consecutive EPT Prague event began, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier was looking to make his 2009 even better. He had a massive stack of chips and looked likely to add an EPT title to his PCA High Roller win and two WCoOP titles for this year.
APPT Grand Final Day 2 wraps up
The PokerStars Asian Pacific Poker Tour has been narrowed down to just 66 players – just 18 off the money – after an action-packed Day 2 that saw a number of big names hit the rail as play progressed.
Poker Million final live on Sky Sports tonight
The live final of this year’s Full Tilt Poker Million will be shown on Sky Sports 2 from 7.30pm tonight. Luke Schwartz is in prime position to take the title, holding a chip stack of 397,000. November Niner James Akenhead is next on 338,000 followed by Taylor Caby on 202,000, Dag Martin Mikkelsen on 160,000, internet qualifier Peter Vasiliou on 154,000 and Juha Helppi on 149,000.
