If a Martian was to land on earth this week and ask about some card game called poker instead of sending him to Las Vegas you'd be pointing the little green man in the direction of dear old Blighty as for the next month London will be the centre of the poker universe.

We know that this story isn't directly related to poker but it did make us chuckle a bit here at Bluff Europe Towers. Regulators in Nevada have fined Caesars Palace Casino for failing to protect the game and its patrons. That sounds very serious but in fact it relates to an overexcited punter awakening his inner John Travolta.

Daniel 'Jungleman12' Cates jumps ahead in Durrrr Challenge
Yesterday we brought you details of the opening skirmishes in the latest Durrrr Challenge between Tom Dwan and Daniel 'Jungleman12' Cates. The opening session saw Durrrr jump into an early $127k lead but when play resumed later in the day it was the challenger who was dominating.
Trapped Chilean miners surviving on rations and poker
It seemed like a miracle when a group of miners were found alive after an accident in a gold mine in Chile last week. Miraculous indeed but still a massive ordeal for the miners, especially with the prospect of having to spend a further four months stranded in a tiny underground chamber before they can be rescued.

Ticket prices reduced at British Poker Awards
The Kensington Close Hotel is the new venue for the The British Poker Awards on 13th September and an expanded capacity means that organisers have been able to substantially reduce ticket prices.

There are many, many ways to bust out of a tournament. Often it's just down to fate and a lack of cards, sometimes it's unlucky and occasionally it's a bone headed, finger in the cookie jar tiltfest. Rarely have I seen an exit as bizarre as the one that occurred at a casino last week and it serves as a salutary lesson to anyone who hasn't yet invested in a card protector.
New owners for UB and Absolute Poker
The Cereus Poker network, home to Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet has new owners. The Antigua based Blanca Gaming has purchased the network, complete with both Absolute Poker and UB, for an undisclosed sum.
