PokerStars restricts Chinese players
China is noted for its one child only policy. Now, PokerStars is taking a leaf out of the Beijing book by limiting Chinese players to one at its ring tables.

BLOG – just how does Jason Mercier do it?
It’s been about three months now since my 21st birthday. In two months’ time I imagine I’ll be sailing along in this same boat; writing poker satire and news for Europe’s most proud and noble gambling publication while playing some micro-to-small-stakes on the side. Five months after my 21st birthday that is how I feel life will be.

We said this on Twitter yesterday but it’s not really ‘news’ to report that Jason Mercier has had a deep run or a final table in a major tournament. But we’re diligent and dutiful journalists so we’ll report it anyway – PokerStars pro Mercier is currently second in chips at the eight-handed final table of the inaugural NAPT LA Main Event.

Peter Eastgate sells 2008 WSOP bracelet for UNICEF
Peter Eastgate won the 2008 WSOP Main Event and went on a highly successful run in smaller tournaments and televised games before announcing his retirement from professional poker at the age of just 23, having achieved financial security.
Jason Mercier heads up 19 remaining in NAPT Los Angeles
The inaugural PokerStars North American Poker Tour at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles has reduced an impressive field of 701 to just 19 players after three days of play. Somewhat unsurprisingly it is Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier who is one of the chip leaders.
APT Macau crowns 18-year-old Chinese winner
Cue the Chinese poker boom? For the first time in its short history the APT Macau, made more famous this year for the high stakes cash action running alongside it, crowned a Chinese winner who took home HK$1,678,000 ($215,000) for beating a field of 161 including Phil Ivey, John Juanda and Tom “durrrr” Dwan – they quickly abandoned the event for the cash action.
Marcel Bjerkmann is Amsterdam Master
Marcel Bjerkmann first came to our attention after a runner up finish in the £1.5k side at event EPT London. The Norwegian followed that up by winning the Belgian Poker Championships and has continued his love in with the low countries with another big win in Holland.
