It’s been about three months now since my 21st birthday. In two months’ time I imagine I’ll be sailing along in this same boat; writing poker satire and news for Europe’s most proud and noble gambling publication while playing some micro-to-small-stakes on the side. Five months after my 21st birthday that is how I feel life will be.

We said this on Twitter yesterday but it’s not really ‘news’ to report that Jason Mercier has had a deep run or a final table in a major tournament. But we’re diligent and dutiful journalists so we’ll report it anyway – PokerStars pro Mercier is currently second in chips at the eight-handed final table of the inaugural NAPT LA Main Event.

For the first time in its short history the APT Macau, made more famous this year for the high stakes cash action running alongside it, crowned a Chinese winner who took home HK$1,678,000 ($215,000) for beating a field of 161 including Phil Ivey, John Juanda and Tom “durrrr” Dwan – they quickly abandoned the event for the cash action.
