Reigning EPT Barcelona champion Carter Phillips recently announced a retirement from poker on Facebook, a status that has since been deleted but sparked rumours flying in the industry – especially when a poster on Two Plus Two claimed that a machete was involved in the WSOP bracelet-winner’s decision.

BLOG – What would Hellmuth do?
Phil Hellmuth is no longer wearing Ultimate Bet sponsorship gear. Now this could all be resolved and we might see him sporting their logo at future events but for now Hellmuth has been seen in just his PH hat and Aria patches as opposed to the UB.com gear and double-decker bus. What, he doesn’t always drive around in that thing?? I bloody would.

Just about 400 players of the monster starting field for the PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona €5,000 Main Event returned yesterday after surviving their respective Day 1s but now only 112 remain, firmly in the money and secure in a small profit.
Helena Brett wins Betfred Ladies' Grand Final
Helena Brett has been crowned the queen of Betfred after winning the Betfred Ladies' Poker Tour Grand Final. The Staffordshire based charity chief won a ten-seater STT at the Western Club to scoop the title and more importantly the £20,000 sponsorship package.
