Just about 400 players of the monster starting field for the PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona €5,000 Main Event returned yesterday after surviving their respective Day 1s but now only 112 remain, firmly in the money and secure in a small profit.

Just about 400 players of the monster starting field for the PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona €5,000 Main Event returned yesterday after surviving their respective Day 1s but now only 112 remain, firmly in the money and secure in a small profit.


Day 2 saw several big names hit the rail including Andre Akkari, Jude Ainsworth, Liv Boeree and Marcel Luske. However, they were survived by a plethora of pros including Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Alexander Gomes and overnight chip leader Bryn Kenney, who built up a stack of 693,500.


Day 3 kicks off at lunchtime today and 112 people will return having locked up €7,500 but gunning for the €825,000 first prize. Joining the field in the money as well as PokerStars Pros Gomes and Grospellier are WPT dominator Carlos Mortenson, Welshman Roberto Romanello and he of WSOP Main Event fame Pascal LeFrancois.

Each player at the final table is guaranteed at least €70,000 with the top six finishers garnering six figures and the lucky two that make it to heads-up guaranteed over half a million each.
