George Downie wins APAT UK Open
There was a home win in Manchester over the weekend and it had nothing to do with events at Old Trafford or Eastlands. The home winner was in fact George Downie who took the latest event on the Amateur Poker Association and Tour (APAT).

The largest World Poker Tour event on European soil is over as a field of 571 players has been reduced to one champion – Andrey Pateychuk defeated Adria Balaguer heads-up to take down the WPT bracelet, €468,200 and entry to the $25,000 WPT Championship.

The 2011 PokerStars EPT Prague drew a Day 1a field of 234 players; almost 100 of them will not return and hit the rail €5,300 lighter. However, 140 survivors will return with the Day 1b remnants on Wednesday.

Fabian Quoss wins GUKPT Grand Final for £138,750
The heater of Triple Crown winner Jake Cody has continued in London, albeit not far enough to add another title to the EPT, WPT and WSOP wins he has racked up in the past two years. He came runner-up to Fabian Quoss in a short heads-up match ending in Quoss’s AQ holding against Cody’s KJ.
PokerStars break world record with 200,000 player tournament
Last night PokerStars broke their own record and hosted the world’s largest poker tournament, with 200,000 participants putting up $1 for a shot at the $250,000 prize pool and a $50,000 first place prize.
