Sebastian Ruthenberg is fast making a big name for himself. Having won his first WSOP bracelet in Vegas this summer, the German has now taken down €1,361,000 for his win at the PokerStars.net EPT Barcelona.

It seems that $25,000 buy-in tournaments are contagious. Last weeks’s FTOPS series showcased a pot-limit Omaha event with a meaty buy-in, with Slaktarn eventually beating Patrik Antonius in the final. Not to be outdone, the Pokerstars heads-up hold’em tournament attracted a similarly star-studded field, with another online legend beating one of the hosting site's lead pros.

The EPT Barcelona kicks off today, but last night saw fans and critics review the season passed. Italian pro Luca Pagano picked up the accolade as Player of the Year, while Canadian Mike McDonald won a brace of trophies.

After two days of play in Macau it came down to the final nine players to battle it out yesterday for the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour High Rollers crown.
