The online poker room at partypoker has revamped its tournament schedule following the creation of the new $5 million guaranteed Powerfest series.
The inaugural Powerfest will kick off on February 21 and run for an entire month offering 98 tournaments with a range of boxing-themed buy-ins designed to suit all player types.Somewhat unique for an online poker tournament series, Powerfest is to dedicate each week to one of four specific buy-in levels with these designated under the ‘featherweight’, ‘middleweight’, ‘heavyweight’ and ‘high-roller’ monikers. The ‘featherweight’ classification will offer buy-ins from $5.50 to $11 while the ‘middleweight’ division will see entry fees ranging from $22 to $55. For the ‘heavyweight’ group, buy-ins will run from $109 to $215 before the ‘high-roller’ with its costs of $530 to $5,200.Each week-long competition division is to culminate with a main event for players in each of the buy-in levels while winners of any Powerfest tournament will additionally receive entry into the campaign-ending Tournament Of Champions.“As the name suggest, this one-off tournament is only open to those of you who are crowned Powerfest champions, meaning entry is only open to those 98 players who win a Powerfest event,” read a statement from partypoker.“Each of the 98 players competing in the Tournament Of Champions is guaranteed tournament tickets from $5.50 up to $530 with the overall winner banking a trip of a lifetime to Las Vegas.”
