durrrr Wins $26k in 500-hand Challenge Session

Monday, 7 September 2009

Nine months in and Tom Dwan’s Million Dollar Challenge is yet to reach the half-way mark against Patrik Antonius… and it’s only the first match!

Yesterday Antonius and durrrr played 458 hands in a short session that saw durrrr win $26,000; decreasing Antonius’s new-found lead by almost half. Now the two have played 23,197 hands since March, and with Antonius ahead $34,143 it is essentially a dead heat.

Over the past 27 days of actual play the two have put in, each player has seen a lead of nearly $750,000 or more only to immediately lose it. Often the two have finished within one or two buy-ins of the other – is durrrr’s 3-1 odds prediction woefully inaccurate?

Dwan won the biggest pot of the last session, calling Antonius’s pre-flop 3-bet and seeing a T54 flop. The two got it in after a hefty pot-sized check-raise from the Full Tilt pro and durrrr found himself flipping – his 8863 against Antonius’s KKT9. Dwan rivered a set to snatch the $107k pot.
