Ziigmund smashes Townsend for over $400k

Friday, 30 April 2010

Brian Townsend has still not had a very good 2010. He stepped up to challenge Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies at heads-up $200/$400 PLO yesterday and soon stepped down after losing at a rate of 500BBs every 100 hands, eventually dropping $482,000 in just 242 hands.

The two played only briefly but the match was enough to send Townsend to the rock bottom of the 2010 rankings with $2.7m lining the bankrolls of his opponents. Their largest pot was a $230k beast that occurred when Townsend turned top two pair and got his stack in. Unfortunately Ziigmund had slowplayed the nut straight and the CardRunners instructor was drawing very thin.

In other news, Patrik Antonius has really conquered his downswing. From being down over $4m six weeks ago he is now reporting 2010 losses of a little over $300,000 – a perfectly standard swing.
