Tom Dwan’s Challenge Resumes With Short Game

Tom Dwan’s Challenge Resumes With Short Game

Friday, 2 October 2009

WSOPE, done. EPT High Roller, done. With that out of the way, Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius had time to squeeze in 400 hands across their four $200/$400 PLO tables, with the younger of the two claiming a small victory.

Dwan won just over $275,000 from Antonius in the 40-minute session, mostly down to the cards falling his way. The two biggest pots - $240,000 and $138,000 – both had a flopped top set, once durrrr’s against middle set and once Antonius’s against the nut flush.

This puts the challenge a little closer to the halfway mark. Of the 50,000 hands that need to be played before a winner can be determined, the two have played 23,597 with durrrr up $235,000.

One thing’s for sure – this will go down to the wire. We’ve seen both durrrr and Antonius hold leads of over $700,000 only to lose them the very next match. If they had played 49,000 hands and one player was up seven figures; it wouldn’t be a sure thing.
