Sunday Million Returns: Vidikin Victorious

Sunday Million Returns: Vidikin Victorious

Wednesday, 24 June 2009

The PokerStars Sunday Million was not running for the past couple of weeks, much to the confusion of the Bluff Europe staff who found themselves with nothing to write about on Monday. Well, except the WSOP.

However now the tournament has returned, and while the ongoing WSOP may have had something to do with “only” 6,990 entrants, the $1.5m Guarantee was fulfilled for a top prize of over $200,000.

The final table began eight-handed owing to a three-way all-in on the final table bubble. Vidikin began as one of the shorter stacks but won a series of huge pots, eventually eliminating December Sunday Million winner Aftret. Soon Vidikin held the cheap lead although this traded hands with unfadeable1, who eventually reached heads-up.

The two arranged a heads-up deal of $190k to Vidikin, $170k to unfadeable1 and $30k to play for. One big hand saw unfadeable1 slip to the wrong end of a 4-1 chip lead before being eliminated holding top pair against trips.
