Six Players: $600k in PokerStars Sunday Million

Six Players: $600k in PokerStars Sunday Million

Tuesday, 25 August 2009

The payout structure in the past Sunday’s major tournament at PokerStars seems a little off – that’s because a six-way deal followed by some cold cards lead to a bizarre scenario whereby the winner earned less than the runner-up as well as third and fourth place.

Overall, 7,431 players bought into the tournament, meaning a $13,800 overlay – PokerStars doesn’t usually have to supply a guarantee; typically players fill it far above and beyond. The summer holidays are obviously a factor.

Regardless, there was $225,000 for first place and the thousands got too it, and after a relatively long slog to the final two tables; New Shawboy ran into AA on the final table bubble to take us nine-handed.

With six people remaining, the idea of a deal was bought up. Players saw the chip-chop numbers – which left $30,000 to the eventual winner – and shockingly all instantly agreed. The numbers below are the numbers agreed on at the time based on chip counts.

The full final table positions and payouts are as follows:

*1. tysonduke23 - $117,009.38
*2. Faraday - $119,401.59
*3. Jarod “shawry5” Shawcross - $146,483
*4. rmpvieira - $122,947.31
*5. dmytro1 - $92,818.62
*6. DDfromDS - $99,395.10
7. jornxx - $32,250
8. Sheeeeep - $18,000
