PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker begins Sunday

Tuesday, 30 August 2011

September is always our favourite month of the year in the poker world, and not just because Poker in the Park begins in just three days’ time. In addition to the WSOPE and the EPT London we also have the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker that begins this Sunday with three huge events.

Sunday will see a 6-max NL event with a $215 buy-in; a regular $215 full ring NL tournament and the $10,300 High Roller that between them guarantee over $3m of the $30m in prizes PokerStars are offering for the tenth annual WCOOP. The highlight of the series will of course be the $5,000 Main Event which carries a guarantee of $1m to the winner. Last year, Tyson Marks won $2.28m and in 2009 Yevgeniy Timoshenko took down $1.7m.

You too can become a millionaire without shelling out $5,000 or even $215. PokerStars are offering their usual great satellites with a series of 13 new mega-satellites taking place this week. Today you can enter the $320 PLO event for just $33 or the $215 rebuy NL for just $3.30.
