PokerStars Sunday Majors award big prizes

Tuesday, 25 October 2011

Despite many of the world’s top pros being in Italy for the EPT San Remo and thus unable to partake in the PokerStars Sunday majors, huge fields turned out for both the Sunday Warm-Up and the Sunday Million, both of which offered up a six-figure first prize.

The Warm-Up saw 3,395 players put up the $215 entry fee to smash the guarantee by nearly $200,000. Up top was $106,603 which was eventually won by “bigdogpckt5s” after a three-way deal that saw him take home $93,000. He defeated TTycho heads-up with A-7 against K-Q.

In the Sunday Million, a grand total of 6,585 players created a prize pool of more than $1.3m with a first-place prize of over $200,000. It was the UK’s own “Spyver” who managed to take down the tournament, beating Canadian player “GoldenOne306” heads-up to snatch the title. The two had made a deal at the beginning of heads-up play that awarded $158k to the Canuck and $170k to the eventual champion, who would take home an extra $20k when his K-T held up against K-8 on the final hand.
