Ivey, durrrr, Ziigmund and Antonius Make Brief Appearances at Full Tilt

Tuesday, 6 October 2009

All the world’s top pros, usually found doing battle across the virtual felt on Full Tilt Poker, were obviously too busy gallivanting around London for the WSOPE and EPT this past week – the action there has been positively dead.

That said, a few big names showed up, including the biggest – Phil Ivey, despite logging just 37 hands for the duration of the weekend, managed to make the biggest profit; mostly from Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies at Pot-Limit Omaha.

The biggest pot of their session totalled just over $182,000 when Ziigmund 4-bet AAKJ to see a call from Ivey, who then shoved the flop. Ziigmund had a backdoor flush draw and the overpair, whereas Ivey’s 9875 double-suited offered him a multitude of outs. The Js on the turn made the Finn two pair but a 3d river sent the pot to Ivey with a seven-high straight.

In addition, Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius decided to forgo the challenge and have a session of $500/$1,000 Hold ‘em. Both players ended up losers, although most of Antonius’s loss was down to the 20 or so hands that POKERBLUFFS played, winning $60,000 from the Team Full Tilt pro. Dwan lost $3,334 which is disastrous for most players but essentially breaking even from his perspective.
