Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies earns $815,000 at PLO

The CAP PLO games were boring for railbirds and – apparently – players alike. Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies is known for anything if not his gamble and has been wanting fully-stacked Pot-Limit games for a while. He got his wish thanks to Brian Hastings and Cole South, who have really been going at Sahamies on the PLO tables.

This time, though, it went to Finland as Ziigmund picked up a tidy $815,000 earner from Hastings and South. The former lost $200,000 in 662 hands while South managed to rid his bankroll of more than $600,000 in just 321 hands.

In a 3-bet pot all the money went in on a Ac-Tc-5s flop with South and Ziigmund more than 150BB deep. South held a multitude of draws with the KQ94; he had the nut flush draw and a gutshot to broadway. However, Ziigmund had 9655 for bottom set and two of South’s club outs making him a near 70% favourite. He held up on both turn and rivers to take the $318,000 pot.

Ziigmund is now up just under $5,000,000 at the nosebleed stakes since the start of his high stakes career a couple of years ago. Typically, this result is peppered with multi-million dollar swings.
