Gus Hansen destroys Antonius, takes back 2011 money lead

Monday, 23 May 2011

We recently reported that Patrik Antonius had been quite simply obliterating all opponents in the PLO, NL and fixed limit games ever since Black Friday with more than $3m racked up since April. However, Gus Hansen has now been on a tear of his own.

In the past week, Hansen has been a mainstay at the biggest limits ($2,000/$4,000 and $3,000/$6,000) of the Omaha 8 and Draw games, notching up win after win to take back the 2011 money lead which has become something of a two-horse race without US players.

Antonius has now dropped down to “just” $1.65m in earnings for 2011 while Hansen is way back up to $3.51m after an incredible week.

It is worth mentioning that Hansen is now, with Tom “durrrr” Dwan unable to play, the most active player at the nosebleeds by far. In 2011 he has put in 130,000 hands across all poker disciplines – not bad at all considering he plays just 2-4 tables.
