FTOPS XI begins as Sunday Million pays $150k.
Friday, 6 February 2009
FTOPS is currently on what feels like it’s 400th run (you can’t move for FTOPSs these days) and Event #1, $216 NLHE, overshot it’s $1m guarantee by over $200k.
Over 6,000 people partook and it took nearly 11 hours for the final table to be decided. The chip counts to begin were as follows:
David "muckducks" Cairns - 8,847,150
sticky seat - 8,542,663
John "John Newcombe" Newcombe - 3,679,525
amster_ATX - 2,037,866
headbang - 1,846,196
two8off - 1,805,256
song1234 - 1,566,232
Almerud - 1,529,339
ich_bin_pro - 1,520,773
Cairns had a 3-1 chip deficit against sticky seat as heads-up play began but he soon showed his lucky side. Firstly he evened up the counts to around $15m each when his A6 outdrew QQ. He then won the tournament all-in preflop with Jd-Td, only to face the Ac-Kc of sticky seat. No problem, just deal a Q89 flop for the nuts and the job’s a good’un.
Over at PokerStars, Aco80’s 88 couldn’t hold against 55 and he was sent to the rail in 10th, giving us a final table for the Sunday Million:
Seat 1: huztlerCrew (10,496,304 in chips)
Seat 2: niuniu09 (9,734,536 in chips)
Seat 3: BodogAri (7,211,054 in chips)
Seat 4: FRfr1111 (5,607,971 in chips)
Seat 5: kiaser (5,564,280 in chips)
Seat 6: Kripp85 (9,023,664 in chips)
Seat 7: MCLegend (7,238,062 in chips)
Seat 8: youjizz (5,263,482 in chips)
Seat 9: freakypokerd (14,990,647 in chips)
A three-way deal after a few hour’s play saw $30k set aside for the winner and a roughly even chop:
MC Legend (29,846,542 in chips) $127,518.22
huztlerCrew (25,415,654 in chips) $120,000.00
BodogAri (19,867,804 in chips) $116,613.76
BodogAri lost a coinflip to finish third but has over $1m in career winnings on PokerStars alone, so he won’t be too annoyed as he goes to sleep on his big bed made of money.
After an ill-timed type-o that saw MCLegend bet $11m into a $1.3m pot and fold to a shove, they got it all-in preflop with K4 for huztlerCrew and A8 for MCLegend. It was a typical 60/40 and the 4 on the turn made it $150,000 total for huztlerCrew.
