David “POKERBLUFFS” Eldar Wins $500,000

Thursday, 1 October 2009

The action on Full Tilt Poker, besides the king-high call made by Patrik Antonius that we reported here, was largely muted late yesterday night. POKERBLUFFS took advantage of this, and despite playing exclusively $500/$1,000 managed to stay out of the 15 biggest pots and still come away the biggest winner.

Overall he won $488,000, taking a little piece from everyone. The two biggest losers were Phil Ivey and kingsofcards. POKERBLUFFS, better-known offline as David Eldar, is a former Scrabble prodigy who is also a high-stakes regular on PokerStars.

The biggest pot won by Eldar was against Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies – four-handed against kingsofcards, Patrik Antonius and Ziigmund; he minraised under the gun only for the Finn to make it $12,000 total after the other Finn called. POKERBLUFFS responded with a 4-bet to $32,000 and called Sahamies’s all-in after Antonius got out of the way, tabling AK to Ilari’s AQ. The K-high board sealed the deal to ship a $180,000 pot to Eldar.

You can follow the action at Full Tilt Poker.
