Dan “djk23” Kelly joins Brunson 10 after $1.3m bracelet

Wednesday, 7 July 2010

The Brunson 10, a group of young tournament players who are to “rise up and follow in the footsteps of the greatest man to ever play the game” is now 70 per cent complete with the addition of $25,000 6-max NL bracelet-winner Dan “djk123” Kelly to the team.

Brunson had considered several tournament pros for the spot – Dave Sands and Faraz Jaka joined Kelly in being told by Brunson that their performances at the 2010 WSOP would determine their status on the Brunson 10. Sands made a final table and three cashes but a gold bracelet in the toughest event of the series certainly qualifies you.

“I just got word that Daniel Kelly won the $25k tournament,” wrote Brunson on his Doyle’s Room blog. “That’s $1,300,000 for a 21 year old kid and it officially makes him the newest member of the Brunson 10.”

Playing as djk123 online, Kelly has total online tournament winnings of over $3m on PokerStars alone with a further $1.6m won on Full Tilt and Ultimate Bet. His largest cash online was a fourth place finish in the 2009 World Championship of Online Poker $10,000 Main Event for over $600,000 – in that same series, Kelly also won two WCoOP titles and made it to two more final tables.
