World Series of Poker 2010 information

Wednesday, 5 May 2010

With just 23 days to go before the start of this year's WSOP we’ve got some facts and figures about the world’s largest poker tournament series and the first thing to say is that Harrah’s are expecting strong numbers in 2010.

This is evident by the fact that 377 poker tables will be in use throughout the complex for the duration of the World Series of Poker allowing up to 3,750 players per day. Of these, four will be televised feature tables for ESPN. The extra capacity should make sure that there aren't any repeats of last year's Main Event Day 1D fiasco when a number of players missed out on the big one.

In a similar vein organisers have slightly amended the Main Event Day 2 structure with Day 1A amalgamating with 1C and 1B with 1D to ensure more balanced fields. Restart times have been altered too ensuring that players have a break of at least 12 hours between the end of play and start of the next day.

Unsurprisingly, the $1,000 buy in events are proving the most popular in terms of pre series registration alongside the Main Event.

Also confirmed was that Phil Ivey currently has the most votes in the Tournament of Champions – hardly surprising. Other contenders in the voting include Phil Galfond, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth.

The 2010 WSOP begins in less than a month. Bluff Europe will, of course, provide exemplary coverage.
