World Poker Tour heads to Venice

If you’ve ever been to Birmingham then the chances are that some kindly Brummie soul has told you that England’s second city has more canals than Venice. That may well be true but the Italian city can offer something which Birmingham can’t, namely a World Poker Tour event which starts this week.

A strong field is expected at the Casino di Venezia for WPT Venice, which starts today, with many of the entrants in last week’s EPT Grand Final in Monaco expected to make the trip to Italy. In addition to prize money, players in the €4000+€400 buy in event will be competing for a WPT bracelet and a guaranteed seat in the $25,000 buy in WPT Main Event 2010.

Side events include a €1,000+€100 No Limit Hold ‘Em event starting on Thursday and a €300+€30 No Limit Hold ‘Em tournament on Sunday. The Main Event will come to a conclusion on Sunday 10 May.
