Williams Mashes Monster Invitational

Tuesday, 23 September 2014

David Williams is no stranger to success on the World Poker Tour. The American pocketed over $1.5m after winning the $25k Championship Event in 2010. He'll have a chance to freeroll his way to a repeat this season after winning the tour's Monster Invitational.

Six of the games biggest names took part in the made for TV event with a WPT prize package worth $80,000 on offer to the winner.

After Scotty Nguyen, Tony Dunst, Antonio Esfandiari and Vanessa Selbst fell by the wayside it was left to Phil Laak and Williams to battle it out for the swag.

The former WSOP Main Event runner up eventually prevailed after a crazy heads up clash that saw the lead change hands multiple times, eventually sealing the deal when his Ac5h defeated the Unabomber's Qh9d.

Williams collected a pair of gold Monster 24K Headphones, a Hublot King Power Unico Watch, and entry into three upcoming WPT events — the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic, the WPT L.A. Poker Classic, and the WPT World Championship.
