WSOPE Saturday round up – Main Event starts today

Saturday, 15 October 2011

The 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event starts this lunchtime and one person with more than usual riding on the outcome is defending champion James Bord. The Londoner is offering to refund bets of up to $500 should an American emerge triumphant in Cannes next week.

Given the size of the fields in the preliminary events the €10,400 Main Event promises to break the current record of 362-runners. Doyle Brunson and John Juanda may be absent but there still looks to be plenty of American class in the field so Bord may have quite a sweat.

The first of two opening flights gets under way at 12pm local time with a second following at the same time tomorrow.
br />
Two other bracelets are still to be decided in addition to the big one. Michael Mizrachi will face Roger Hairabedian with Shawn Buchanan taking on Noah Schwartz in the last four of the €10,400
Split Hold'em event which started with 9-handed action, moved on to six-max before finishing with heads up games.
br />
Just six players remain in the €1,620 Six-Handed PLO event with Nicolas Fierro leading the way ahead of Philippe Boucher, Michel Dattani, Jared Solomon, Alexander Dovzhenko and the UK's Jack Elwood.

Join us tomorrow to see who is sporting some nice new jewellery.
