Ivey Ivey Ivey! Just seven hands in, Ivey re-takes the chip lead.

Ivey Ivey Ivey! Just seven hands in, Ivey re-takes the chip lead.

We told you the action was hotting up! Viktor “Isildur1” Blom no longer holds the WSOPE chip lead but don’t worry, he hasn’t bluffed it off – it’s just Ivey being Ivey. Nick Schulman must be glad to leave, though – he had the most awful spot in the tournament directly to Phil Ivey’s right.

Schulman got 160,000 or so in before the flop with A-K and Ivey called him with A-K, suited in diamonds. That detail becomes important when the dealer laid out a 2c-9d-Qd flop to freeroll Ivey; a small diamond (a four, we think) came on the turn and Schulman is out of here with a bad beat story he’ll be telling his grandchildren about.

The very next hand, Matt Stout got his last 80,000 in with A-K and Ivey called him with T-T. No bad beat freeroll flops here, just a simple coinflip that saw Ivey’s hand hold to propel him to 510,000 in chips – almost six figures ahead of Viktor Blom and Bojan Gledovic. Watch out, room – Ivey has chips.

Howard Lederer pays up $5,000,000 if Ivey wins this, by the way. Just a minor detail.
