The Great Dane is closer than ever to securing his first World Series of Poker bracelet after dominating performance against Jim Collopy who conceded the first of the matches the two will play after being mercilessly beaten down throughout the two-hour match.

Hansen had taken the first chunk out of his opponent’s stack from the get go and continued his trademark relentless aggression before a key hand on an A-3-5-3-3 board saw Collopy muck to Hansen’s A-4 in a 850,000 pot. Two hands later he shoved Qc-8c from the big blind and ran into Hansen’s 9-9, which made a straight to seal the victory.

The two are currently undergoing the second match and as we write Hansen has won the first two pots to take small chunks from Collopy’s stack; it’s a mirror of the first hands of the last match. Should three-time WPT winner Hansen continue this performance it’s likely the WSOPE will be crowning its second Danish winner.
