WSOPE £1k NLHE Day 1B complete

Sunday, 19 September 2010

202 players were in attendance for the second opening flight of the £1,075 No Limit Hold'em event at the Empire yesterday with Wes Pantling leading the way at bagging up time.

Pantling's success will have been popular with many of the big name pros as he stymied Tom Dwan's latest bracelet run. Durrrr, who stands to win millions should he win a WSOP bracelet this year, had worked his way to the top end of the leader board but hit the rail after losing a flip with his pocket queens against Pantling's AK.

Phil Ivey also featured at the top end of the chip counts but like Durrrr he could concentrate on the cash games by the end of the day. The eight-time bracelet winner hit the rail after his overpair ran into a flopped two pair. Other notables to bust out yesterday included Barry Greenstein, Phil Hellmuth and Huck Seed.

As expected there was a good showing from the British contingent with GUKPT winner Priyan de Mel and EPT Vilamoura winner Toby Lewis both near the top of the chip counts.
The final opening flight takes place today with another big field expected.

The leading chip counts were as follows:

Wesley Pantling 56,200,
Sofia Lovgren 52,500
Andrew Lichtenberger 42,400
Toby Lewis 35,300
Priyan De Mel 32,200
Dominik Nitsche 32,100
