After a hat-trick of near misses in last year's World Series, Phil Hellmuth has finally got his hands on WSOP bracelet number 12 after winning the $2,500 Seven Card Razz title. Hellmuth worked his way through a final table that included Barry Greenstein, Scott Fischman and Brandon Cantu before beating Don Zewin heads up.

The win was Hellmuth's first in an non no limit hold'em event and takes his career earnings to $13,339,913 which puts him fourth in the all time money list behind the Erik Seidel, Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu.

Ivey finishes second in $10k Pot Limit Hold'em


Phil Ivey's return to World Series action looked like it would result in a bracelet but in the end the American fell just short in his quest for WSOP title number nine. Andy Frankenberger was the man who spoilt the Team Ivey celebrations, taking down the $10k Pot Limit Hold'em title and with itthe $445,899 first prize and his second WSOP bracelet.


The pair went into heads up play even in chips but Frankenberger ground his way in front and around an hour in sealed victory when his set of fives beat Ivey's AJ on an Ace high flop.


The runner up finish was Ivey's second final table at this year's WSOP with the $275,559 in prize money taking his career tournament earnings to an eye watering $16.5m.

Matt Matros wins $1.5k Six Handed NLHE


Matt Matros made it a hat trick of bracelets after taking down the $1.5k Six Handed event over the weekend. The New Yorker worked his way through a final table that included Canadian bracelet winner Mark Radoja and Londoner Ramey Shaio to claim his third title in three years and with it a first prize of $454,835.


“It doesn’t even occur to me that I might win a bracelet,” Matros told the WSOP, “Everyone hopes they do, but even winning two the last two years, you never expect to run that good again. Man, I just caught so many cards and came back from some a couple of big hands that I lost, too. I just can’t fathom how lucky I’ve been the last three years here at the Rio.”
