WSOP 2011 – Jean-Robert Bellande leading $2.5k 6-max field.

If you’re not following @BrokeLivingJRB on Twitter then you should be. Aria Poker Room ambassador and constantly broke-then-staked-then-broke-again roll-on-the-table mixed games player Jean-Robert Bellande is always Tweeting about the huge swings in his bankroll. He’s in line for a big upswing if he keeps this up as he is second place in the 189-strong field in Event #26.

The $2,500 6-max NL event attracted a field of 1,378 players which was reduced to near the money bubble on Day 1 with 189 players making their way to Day 2. JRB has 144,700 to take with him tomorrow – albeit way behind chip leader Tyler Cornell’s 172,600. Other high flyers from Day 1 include Olivier Busquet, Chris Moorman, Lex Veldhuis and Melanie Weisner.

Bellande would be leading the field were it not for Tyler Cornell shipping a huge pot in the last hand of the night. He check-raised over a bet and a call on a flop of 9s-Jd-Qh and then called the all-in with Q-9. His opponent flipped J-9 and was crushed, especially when the third player in the pot said he folded the same hand. This gave Cornell a near-100BB pot and propelled him to the top of the chip counts.
