WSOP 2011 - $50k Players' Championship final table set – Minh Ly leads

Wednesday, 6 July 2011

After a marathon day (and night) the final table of the $50,000 Players' Championship has been decided. Minh Ly leads the way with 5,215,000, almost double the stack of his closest rival, Brian Rast who has .

As you'd expect on a final table in a $50k buy-in event, the remaining field is strong with Player of the Year leader Ben Lamb, Matt Glantz, Jason Lester and George Lind all very much still in contention for the $1.7m first prize. Also in with a shout are Owais Ahmed (who beat Michael Mizrachi to the $2.5k Stud 8 bracelet) and Scott Seiver. The pair tangled over Seiver's use of the F bomb with Ahmed accusing Seiver of aiming it at him. Seiver denied it but was given a one-hand ban before continuing the war of words on Twitter. Seiver “@oerockets (Ahmed) is a huge piece of shit with no ethical code. Disgusted by him for calling multiple floors until Jack decided to give a penalty.” The pair have been seated next to each other tomorrow which should make interesting viewing.

The one name we haven't so far mentioned is the biggest of them all – Phil Hellmuth. The 11-time bracelet winner enjoyed another excellent day, eventually finishing the day fifth in the chip counts. After two runner up finishes can the Poker Brat finally make bracelet number 12? And if he does will the poker world ever hear the end of it? Join us tomorrow to find out.

The final table chip counts are as follows:
1 Minh Ly 5,215,000
2 Brian Rast 2,660,000
3 Matt Glantz 2,535,000
4 George Lind 2,315,000
5 Phil Hellmuth 2,245,000
6 Owais Ahmed 1,425,000
7 Ben Lamb 1,180,000
8 Jason Lester 920,000
9 Scott Seiver 725,000
