WSOP 2011 - $50k Players’ Championship Day 3 complete; 29 remain

Day 3 of the $50,000 8-Game Players’ Championship has concluded with 29 players all still in contention with a view to taking down the $1.7m first prize and the bracelet with the most status behind it. Josh Arieh leads the way into Day 4 with 28 poker greats snapping at his heels.

Arieh amassed more than 1.8m chips over the course of three days which puts him at the top of the chip counts alongside Brian Rast, George Lind, Vladimir Schmelev, Phil Hellmuth and Scott Seiver as the five to catch with over a million chips each. The event will be crowning a new champion – David Bach busted on Day 3 to join Michael Mizrachi on the rail.


Other big names remaining in contention include current Player of the Year leader Ben Lamb, 2010 finalist Robert Mizrachi, Gus Hansen, Jeff Lisandro, David Oppenheim, Phil Galfond and Barry Greenstein.


Tomorrow the players will rotate through NL, PLO, 2-7 Triple Draw, Stud, Stud 8, Razz, Omaha 8 and Limit Hold ‘em to the eight-handed final table which will play out as No Limit.
