WSOP 2011 - $1,000 No Limit Hold ‘em Day 2 concludes

Tuesday, 14 June 2011

The second day of the $1,000 No Limit event has concluded with 39 players of a 3,175 field remaining and Jason Somerville leading the way over WPT Champion Tim West, having bagged up 749,000 after flopping a pair and a flush draw against top pair and getting there for a half million plus pot.

Tim West managed to increase his stack to over 600,000 after calling it off with A-8o versus K-4 and holding up by making a four-flush just fifteen minutes after busting another player with A-8. He is ranked second in chips with 33 remaining in contention. All remaining players have $11,401 to their names.

Huge fields means huge prize pools though and this is reflected in the final table – tomorrow we should reach the final nine and they will all have $36,833 guaranteed and be playing for a first prize of $493,091 and the WSOP bracelet.

The most famous face still remaining in the field is that of PokerStars Pro Lex Veldhuis. The Dutchman ended Day 1 second in chips and has reached Day 3 with a decent chip stack.
