Sunday, 10 July 2011

As expected, the third opening flight of the 2011 WSOP Main Event was a biggie with a massive 2,181 players ponying up the $10,000 buy-in. 1,360 will be back for Day 2 with Kevin Song heading the leader board on 163,325, just ahead of Chris McLung on 162,375.

A host of top names survived the day including Adam Junglen, Daniel 'Jungleman12' Cates, Ted Forrest, Daniel Negreanu as well a former World Champions Scotty Nguyen, Bobby Baldwin, Dan Harrington, Joe Cada, Jonathan Duhamel and Phil Hellmuth who returns with just 11,000.

JP Kelly heads a strong UK line up which also includes Darren Woods, Praz Bansi, Andrew Teng, Neil Channing, John Tabatabai, Victoria Coren, Audley Harrison and Bluff Europe's very own Alex Rousso. They will all be back for Day 2.

A grand total of 4,056 players have bought in so far with another huge field expected for today's fourth and final opening day. Anyone who booked action on a field of over 6,000 looks to be in great shape with 7,000 a distinct possibility.
