Jake Cody wins $25k Heads Up Championship

Saturday, 4 June 2011

It's been quite the year and a half for Jake Cody. After taking an EPT title in Deauville and a WPT on home turf in London the young Briton has completed the triple crown after winning the WSOP $25k Heads Up Championship. All at the tender age of 22.

Rochdale's finest won seven matches en route to the bracelet seeing off WSOPE heads up champ Gus Hansen in the semi final to set up a final with regular in the best player without a bracelet list, Yevgeniy Timoshenko.

Roared on by a highly raucous rail, the Lancastrian dominated proceedings giving a masterclass in heads up play, crushing Timoshenko without even having to reach for his two chip reloads. Cody pocketed $851,192 for the win, taking his career earnings past the $2.6m mark.

We caught up with Cody late last year. Read the full interview here.
