WSOP Queue Causes Major Issues

Wednesday, 3 June 2015

One of the biggest stores to emerge from the 2015 WSOP so far is the inordinate amount of time players have been forced to wait in order to register for events or collect their winnings.

Despite the WSOP breaking new ground with its Colossus tournament earlier this week, numerous complaints have rung out across Twitter since the festival began due to the lack of staff manning the cashier desks.

As frustrating for the organisers as it is the players, the issue is now becoming a major problem as some players are waiting longer to collect their money than it took for them to win it in the first place.

Fortunately, the WSOP's Executive Director, Ty Stewart, is working hard to remedy the situation. Unfortunately, however, a lot of the issues are beyond his control. Describing the last few days as the "most frustrating" in his ten years at the WSOP, Stewart is now trying to stem the tide and fix the problems heading into week two of the festival.

Not wanting to make excuses via Twitter, Stewart tweeted last night that technology has been an issue, but so too has trained members of staff. However, he assured people that the problem was slowly being fixed and that he was recruiting every possible Rio employee to help reduce waiting times for players.

Overall the 2015 WSOP has proved to be a huge success on the felt; however, if problems persist at the cage it could soon start to have an effect on the festival as a whole.
